Recently, I realized that I am paying out more each month than I bring in. In learning this, I decided to minimize some of my monthly bills. The first thing to look at was the
entertainment portion of the bills, and we had a few.
Firstly, I tried to lower our DishNetwork bill by lowering our plan, but DishNetwork has cleverly implimented a rule that prohibits lowering plans, while allowing raising plans. That means that if I originally had my plan at around $80/mo, then I could NEVER reduce that plan, unless I wanted to completelyget rid of it for a month, and then re-apply for a new account. How dumb is that?

Secondly, I got rid of our second cell-phone. This reduces our cell bill by about 20 bucks, so good
on me. 20 down, 500 to go.
Lastly, and most disturbing is the internet bill. Recently, I got an interesting e-mail from
Adelphia, saying that since they have been bought-out by
Comcast, they can no longer offer free domain and site hosting along with their “
premier service“, which is what I have. This service also includes faster speeds. So, for $60/mo

I get free hosting, and faster speeds, but no longer. I decided to downgrade to the normal speed, and take my hosting to a different company. Adelphia/Comcast wanted to charge me $20 extra per month to continue hosting with them. No thank you. I called
GoDaddy, and got a monthly plan for $10/mo that includes 2gigs/mo transfer, and 100gb of storage. Adelphia only had 500mb transfer, and 150mg of storage. Yea for me!
I don’t know when the new hosting will take over, but it should be sometime in the next 5 days. We will see.
